auction fun

I went to an auction Monday. That's where I got the paintings in my last post, and also a large framed photo of a canoe, which I cannot get an acceptable photo of because of glass reflections. (Photo tips welcome.) Also:
 A child's rocker. I've sold quite a few of these, in various styles, often to grandparents.

 Twig tables. This style is often called Adirondack, named for the wilderness region north of the Catskills, known for its camps, lodges, and handmade rustic furniture, mostly from the early 20th century.

Remember the duck sleigh I got a while back?

Now we have a rocking duck of similar vintage.

    My grandchildren would love the rocking duck, in fact I love it too.The childs rocking chair is very cute too.

    Hello Jen:
    We absolutely love the rocking duck. surely this would be every small child's delight!

    You have acquired some very interesting items at auction. The twig tables we find particularly interesting and have never seen anything quite like them. They certainly could not be English.

    How lovely the rocking duck is! I don't know how to enjoy auction here in Japan. I tried once on the internet to get a similar chair in our living room and the system seemed to be convenient, but how to conpete and get one was so troublesome.

    I've never seen twig tables with such a pattern. I like these much better than most you see. I think they are probably Adirondack also.

    wonderful treasure ! Love the duck stuff..that amazes me...never heard of rocking ducks before in my life it is always rocking horses right ? and the twig tables are my favorite ! I want one !

    great finds. I love the rocking chair. my friend who just had a baby got one similar to that!!

    re: reflections while taking pictures. have you tried using a tripod and no flash somewhere where no natural light sources get reflected? that usually works. if you have no tripod simply put the camera on a stable surface.

    Really, it's not healthy for me to come here. At least not when you've been to an auction. Love the rocker. And of course, the ducks. So many dreams, so little money :)
