barrister bookcase followup

I put the bookcase that I wrote about last week in the store. It looks perfect. I can't believe I thought about stripping off the paint! I heard a couple talking about stripping it and I almost told them I won't sell it to anyone who is going to do so. Can I do that? I know I described it as robin's egg blue, but out of my garage and in the light I see that it's really more of a faded green.
I put nature-related used books on the top shelf and balsam pillows and incense on the second. I stored extra field bags and notebooks on two of the other shelves.
On top is the Mincing Mockingbird's book and a gorgeous vase from Red Hot Pottery. She (Christine of RHP) calls it the Florapalooza vase, which cracks me up.
I am really in love with this bookcase!
Do you have a piece of furniture that you have a special attachment to?

  1. I love your bookshelf, too!
As for favorite furniture or object in my house? I have many, but one is a glass case with mirrored shelves that was my mother's mother's. It has a rounded front door with a tiny brass key that actually works in the lock. I like how the case displays and reflects light off the crystal glasses I have stored inside it. The case has four wooden feet.

  3. that is a pretty color, I love jadeite green shades, chippy old furnitures. I could never part with my old oak display cabinet I bought at an antique shop many years ago, it is a beauty and the first ever furniture I bought since my hubby and I got married.

  4. It looks awesome in the shop Jen! No, you can not tell people they can not strip it...LOL!!! You take the money and let them run with the piece...

    Take care,

  5. I smiled at the thought of telling a customer you won't sell the bookcase to them if they're going to strip it! Sounds like something *I* would think of saying, then my husband would tell me what Serendipity Chic Design said above: You take the money and let them run with the piece!

PS My grandmother was from Virginia. I've only seen a small part of it--so beautiful. But it also looks beautiful where you are now.
