Viola growing through the cracks between the bricks. With a dandelion next to it. Just think of all the possible metaphors. I am betwixt, between, bewildered, about what to do with my little store. Right now I see only pavement. I'm searching for the flowers.
edited to add: I woke up today, feeling better. Just so you know. More later.
And you're staying up late brooding about it, too, I see. If it gives you pleasure, continue. You can open whenever you please; treat it like a secret room you share occasionally with those who pass by.
ReplyDeleteKaren--I do brood! Secret room is a sweet idea...Though not practical for the location--it's too rural.
DeleteHello Jen;
ReplyDeleteWe are really sorry that your store is causing you so much anxiety in the way of not knowing quite what is for the best. If it really is not working out, then perhaps it would be better to close it which would, we imagine, free you up considerably. But that, we know, is easier said than done and only you know what is involved with such a decision.
Jane and Lance--I am will not make any decisions before the end of summer. The best thing would be if I just closed from January to May. It's frustrating being so far away--there's so little I can do from a distance.
DeleteI'm sorry, too, that you are thinking about your store in many ways which do not make you happy. Your phrase,"I'm searching for the flowers", however, sounds posotive, Jen. You'll find out your own better way, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you, my friend.
DeleteI love Karen's response! Positive thinking; personally, I would write lists of pros and cons, balance them out and throw in a measure of how much joy it gives you, then add summer, and decide later in the year. The flowers are always there, BTW; you just haven't got your eye in yet, as they say.....

DeleteWrote Karen, not Rachel. Let's try this again!
DeleteRachel--Winter is definitely not the time to make decisions re: the store. My attitude is improving with the weather!
I hope you find them :)

Thanks, Petra!
DeleteBeautiful flower. I am sorry you are being pulled in two directions. I hope the answer comes to you soon.
ReplyDeleteI smile every time I walk by that little flower!
DeleteMaybe you should wait until business returns to normal before making any serious decisions. That is, if it is not going to be a matter of years.
ReplyDeleteRubye--I don't know when, if ever, the economy will normalize, but the slow process of flood recovery doesn't help. The supermarket is finally going to reopen in June--10 months later!
DeleteDoes the store make you happy? What would you be doing with the time you gained? When you close your eyes and imagine what you wish yo were doing, is the store part of that?
ReplyDeleteWishing you clarity in this hard decision...
Great picture! Glad you're feeling better!
