wondering

When I go to the country I spend as much time outside as I can--walking, wandering, wading, gazing, daydreaming.

As though I'm trying to memorize it--the endless beauty, fascination, variations, permutations, the magnificence of nature--and carry it within.

As though somehow I will learn from it, become closer to the person I want to be.

  1. Isn't that the joy of getting back to nature. It is so good for clearing the head and filling it with all sorts of new possibilities. Amanda x

  3. With such beauty and tranquility its far easier to find a sense of peace within yourself and its nice to meditate too and contemplate things when you are so relaxed.

  5. You have such a special spot.

My great grandparents had a wonderful brick house--I believe it was once a grist mill--on the edge of a waterfall in upstate NY. The creek ran along the back edge of their property. It was magical as are your photos.

    1. I didn't know you have upstate connections! There is so much beauty there--it's a bigger state than a lot of people realize.

  7. Love that third photo of the water, it's hypnotic. Nature is mesmerizing. And what is wrong with the person you are? Seems pretty good to me.

    1. Maybe better isn't quite the right word for what I meant--though believe me there's much room for improvement. It's more about being true to myself, maybe??? And better. And smarter. And kinder. (I put a lot of faith in nature.)

  8. Hello Jen, I am reading this after the post about the colored cabinets. This brings up an interesting observation. Antiquing can be energizing, while communing with nature is both relaxing and recharging.

    1. Interesting thoughts. I find antiquing exciting and energizing but it always hits a point where I rapidly reach exhaustion.
