I've added ice cream to the stay cool repertoire:
Orange Italian ice (bonus points: it last a long time)
Lemon ice cream (bonus points: local creamery and vitamin c)
Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter mixed in (bonus points: calcium and protein)
All those bonus points negate calories and sugar, right?
I mean they're practically healthy.
Also, a big bowl of fruit salad every day:
watermelon, peaches, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries.
Hope you find ways to stay cool this weekend.
Jen
How good looking are your sons? Tres.
ReplyDeleteEvery day I say I'm acclimated to the heat and humidity and them I stay outside for 5 minutes and I realize I'm lying to myself. Again.
2 more days they tell me.
Why did I ever plant anything in pots?
xo J.
I finally moved all my pots (except one that's too heavy) into shade near the hose until it cools off if ever...
DeleteYour boys are very handsome Jen!
ReplyDeleteWe are having a heatwave over here in UK and its pretty hot!
Eek...it's hot everywhere. Maybe not Australia?
DeleteI'm in agreement, very handsome young men those two. Your fruit salad balances out your ice cream so not to worry. I'd like to be under that waterfall.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right since you have all those cookbooks and are such a good cook, I'll rely on your expertise.
DeleteYou give me too much credit. I am by no stretch of the imagination a nutritionist, not a clue. But thank you, I'll take the plaque :) Which one is getting married? I'm so wishing I had daughters...
DeleteHey! I'm relying on you and your fruit balancing out ice cream theory. Don't make me feel guilty. Red shirt is getting married.
DeleteWhich one of those handsome boys is getting married? Fruit and ice cream? perfect!!
ReplyDeleteThe one in the red shirt. I need to get a recent picture of all 3 boys--our party would have been the perfect time, but I didn't take any pictures...
DeleteIn the summer I could live on fruit, cottage cheese and Greek salads. I'm new to ice cream addiction. Cookies have always been my sweet thing.
Gorgeous guys.... Yummy fruit salad... Delicious ice cream... Pretty painting... Refreshing waterfall... Hot? Oh well... A wedding coming up... What FUN! Happy Friday... Susan
ReplyDeleteI guess I can't complaint about heat and humidity to someone who lives in the south. It's really been unusual for us though. Have a good weekend.
DeleteYou have three gorgeous sons! How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy summer recipe for survival is tamato (tomato curry, tomato juice, tomato salad...), water melon, sōmen (cool thin noodle), taking shower..
I love ice cream too.
Tomato curry sounds delicious! my favorite sandwich these days is a piece of toasted whole grain bread with sharp cheddar cheese, avocado, a thick slice of tomato, and lots of alfalfa sprout. I don't know why I'm writing about food all of a sudden.
DeleteLots of watermelon and showers too.
Your painting is also hot and cool!(^^)
ReplyDeleteYour sons' shirts, too. They have different characters, I suppose referring to mines.
I was going through my pictures and started seeing red and green/hot and cool everywhere.
DeleteWhich handsome son looks like you? Nice painting - hot pink. I can imagine it against a cool green wall.
ReplyDeleteha ha...
Deletean apple green wall.
here is blueberries already(!) and lots of good taste norwegian strawberries
ReplyDeleteand yes in between a god old greek ice-coffee ;)
enjoy your weekend dear Jen
That reminds me of a Swedish book that I used to read to my children--Peter in Blueberry Land--it had wonderful illustrations. I wish I could try Norwegian strawberries. I am wondering if they are in any of your illustrations which I love so much.
DeleteLove your new header photo. You gotta love a cat that takes the time to smell the roses.
ReplyDeleteHard to be cool in this heat but ice cream is a great start.
Ice cream was never my go to treat, but it really does cool you down. Lots of ice water too. Ice everything...
DeleteThat cat is so funny--she loves to smell flowers.
looks lovely :) and two handsome men!
ReplyDeleteGood thing they don't read this blog, or all the compliments would go to their heads.
DeleteA super post Jen,
ReplyDeleteI am being a little greedy with my ice cream,
enjoying the early morning and late afteroon.

Your kitty is so sweet on your new header..

Thanks Val! Hope your painting is going well.
DeleteDefinitely ice cream!
ReplyDeleteHandsome boys you have there.
Maybe I need to do an ice cream v cookie poll.
DeleteSuch handsome sons you have Jen. Hope you will be able to stay cool. It's warm in Holland as well. We are off to the beach tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!

Enjoy the beach!
DeleteIce cream is one of the main food groups!
ReplyDeletePhew. Thanks for letting me know.
ReplyDeleteWhat handsome sons! Love the idea of ice cream and peanut butter... i happen to have both on hand (a rare leftover from visitors, i usually never buy ice cream by the carton.) There was shave ice available at the farmers market last weekend, good to know for when (if) we ever get a heat wave here!
