I was feeling a little guilty about all the peony
I continue to make these whimsical little collages. I work on them in the evening, while listening to jazz radio. Despite years of painting and writing, I have never found creating things theraputic, but this is fun and relaxing, and I get a kick of out putting together words and pictures. Look at the strange little phrases (sections in a book) from the above Mysteries in the Bird World:
Islands of Birds--Effects of Musketry--Timid Damsels--Meaning of Montreal...
It's all so strange and wonderful.
It's all so strange and wonderful.
Typed ingredients for plum conserve here, and a bit of an old grammar book: What adjectives do you use to name the qualities of a book? a rose? a ball?
Tomorrow I go to Vermont to bring home my son for the summer (remember this?) and we are going to visit a dear friend at a farm where they make goat's milk cheese. I hope to have some good pictures of goats for you next week.
What a cool way to spend the evenings - making collages to jazz. I need to do something like this. Soon. I hope.
ReplyDeleteGlad your son is coming to stay with you. A whole new world opens up this summer. :)
When I was young I had friends who were jazz musicians, but I really didn't appreciate the music, didn't truly get it. Now I do. And it fits well with collage work.
DeleteHello Jen:
ReplyDeleteYou must be very excited that Luke is coming home for the summer when, we very much hope, you will have a really enjoyable time together.
How strange it is but only last night we were actually talking about your wonderful collages and wondering if you still made them?! Clearly you do!
Luke is a lot of fun--he's the one who, when I'm grouchy, can make me smile. He's developed an interest in cooking, so I'm hoping to benefit from that!
DeleteThat is strange that you were thinking about my collages. I studied art in college, and used to make very large abstract and impressionist paintings, and now I'm getting lost in this tiny world...
It must be fun to creat like this, Jen. Yes, I remember your son's apartment that you showed as a photo. It's beautiful and I guess you'll have very fruitful time with your son and your friends.
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to the weekend--I love the town he lives in, and am so excited to visit the farm. They make goat cheese there.
Deletethere is absolutely nothing wrong with peonie love or lust :) thank you so much for the photos you sent!!!!!!! do you mind if I share them on my blog?
ReplyDeletehappy weekend xxx
Peonies deserve all the adulation they get...alas, I'm not much of a mountain laurel fan, don't know why. Must be great to have your son home for the Summer! Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI find your collages very beautiful and theexperience of making them quite inspiring : )
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a loving time der Jen!
