snow day, continued

We got about 2-1/2 feet of snow, a goodly amount. But
our power didn't go out, and there's plenty of food in the house,

The Governor banned travel for 24-hours
except for emergency vehicles and plows,
and public transportation is shut down

giving us an excuse to read and eat and nap.

I feel bad that I'm out of birdseed--
that will be my first errand, when our little world wakes up.

  1. Looks amazing but Uk would grind to a halt with so much snow in one go!

    1. When you live somewhere that doesn't get snow regularly they don't have the equipment to deal with it and everything shuts down. Even here, where we have everything, the road were closed for 24 hours, the airport closed the trains didn't run, etc.

  2. Cats know how to deal with storms, don't they?

    1. They definitely have the right idea. Their days are a cycle of play, nap, eat, nap.

  4. It looks like you took good advantage of the day.

A friend of mine just drove into Boston and said it's a HUGE mess. Even major streets are just one lane wide. I have to say, they've done very little plowing around here too. One front-end loader went down the street this morning and I've not seen single plow since. Not sure what I'll do if the T isn't running by Monday morning.

    1. One thing is they have to find somewhere to put all the snow. I remember one year they packed it into box cars in Buffalo and took it somewhere where there was room for it.

  5. How do you get the kitties to sleep on their bed and not on the furniture? All that snow -- you'll have grass greening in a few weeks, and then it will be spring. You must have old bread crumbs somewhere in the back of a cupboard for the birds.

    1. Oh, they do sleep on the furniture. That's a piece of sheepskin I put on an ottoman. They love soft blankets so I've put a few inexpensive throws in strategic places, trying to think like a cat.

  6. It's true what you say about where to put the snow. A couple of years ago we had storm after storm after storm and the walls of the paths we had dug out kept getting higher and higher. The town started taking the snow and dumping it in a mall parking lot. It was like a mini mountain and the kids were sledding off of it. Gotta find a way to enjoy it.

    1. They put it in the parking lots in the suburbs here too. There are huge piles everywhere. It's really problematic in the city. In Buffalo one time (at least) they removed snow in train box cars.

  7. Hello Jen, Your cats look so lazy and comfortable. Do they stay together because they are related? Once lived in a house with two cats, and they would have nothing to do with each other.

    1. They are mother and daughter. They are a pleasure to watch. The shelter I got them from will only let a kitten be adopted with another kitten or its mother.
