Bookstores and cats: two of my favorite things, and they go so well together. The first picture is Ginger, who lives at a bookstore in Orinda, California, a town I used to live in. The second picture is Hampton, who lives at one of my favorites, The Corner Bookstore in Manhattan. The kittens in the third picture live in a bookstore in Bangalore, India. See more bookstore cats here, here, and here. Do you have a favorite bookstore cat?
Now I'm going to look for more flower shop bunnies.
LOVE this post! Love Hampton's dominance of the counter. There is a great Maine coon cat at the bookstore in Crestline, CA, but I forget her name.
ReplyDeleteAnd the bunny, oh my... she looks just like my old bun Fanny.
What a sweet post Jen.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a cat in a bookshop.
looking forward to seeing the bunnies.

Have you ever seen the cat at Old House Parts in Kennebunk, Maine whose stripes spell "Joy"? http://oldhouseparts.com/views.htm?name=Apr2006Stock/Napoleon_2.jpg
ReplyDeleteHello Jen
ReplyDeleteNo cats at my local book store at least not of the four legged variety.
Have a great week

Wow, great shots of cats in these bookstores! They look as if they are good shopkeepers.:)
ReplyDeleteI love cats in bookshops. When they sat in windows, they always drew me inside to say hello. Often there was a second cat that had staked out the counter. Nice photos. They're sadly going the way of the independent bookstore.
ReplyDeleteMatilda, the cat who (or one of her predecessors) has lived at the Algonquin Hotel forever, is now confined to a small area of the lobby. She used to be able to roam freely, but someone complained to the health dept.
Deletelol, brilliant. I actually don't know any book stores with cats. but I'll keep my eyes open. happy sunday xxo
ReplyDeleteI hope you do--with all your travels you might spot some!
DeleteLove this...I've always loved that about New York, so many stores have cats, for obvious reasons, Haha. Have you noticed when you come to NYC, every Duane Reade has t least one!
ReplyDeleteWow, lovely cats! Mine is just like the first one. Here a figurine of cat in beckoning gesture is very common, which is believed to bring good luck so is often seen in front of shops, restaurants, and other businesses.
ReplyDeleteActually there is a famous cat called Tama who has been assigned a station master in a local station and successful in drawing lots of passengers there.
Sigh... I wish our bookstores had resident cats.....
ReplyDeleteHello Petals!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post.
ReplyDeleteI've never been in a library where there were cats,
but from my bookseller is his dog barking
when a customer does not like him.
Happy New Year to you and to all the cats in the world.
Ciao from Italy.
Loretta
What a beautiful and peaceful combination. Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteIn Toronto we have a bookstore cat and a flower shop bunny!
