Catskill weekend

It was my last weekend working in the store. I feel like I should have something meaningful to say about that, but I don't. Doubts, angst and bittersweetness are in the past.

It was a beautiful weekend--we had a full house, people in and out, cooking, eating, drinking, naps in the hammock, trips to the farmers market, long walks, a party given by a friend I made through the store.

I went wading and worked on my observation skills. I tend to view landscapes/nature in an impressionistic way, and am trying to focus on details.

Pine needles in the water.

Leaves tumbling down stream.

Autumn is coming.

I read a wonderful book--charming, magical, haunting--the kind that stays with you.
(read about it here)

I hope you had a good weekend too!

Jen

  1. Hello Jen:
As one door closes, another opens. We do wish you well with what lies ahead. And we are so pleased to read that there are no real regrets.

    1. I'm sure there will be some twinges in the future, but the door is closed, and I'm not looking back. Just taking a peek through the open door...

  2. Somehow a nature walk at this time of the year is incomplete without eating a few blackberries; it doesn't matter if they are lushly ripe or even a bit sour.

  6. Ah, you have an Impressionist's eye. That's wonderful. Just don't let it get as bad as Monet's in later life - you might get run over when crossing a street.

  9. Dearest Jen, just yesterday I was planning to visit you and now you left a comment on my blog! Thanks a lot! Nice to hear from you and to see what you have been up to! I cannot belived it was your last weekend in the shoP! I remember so well when you said your first day is around the corner. What do you mean by bittersweetness, angst etc.? I am sure you were successful! It is such a pity that I do not live close by - I would visit all the time - maybe i would even get on your nerves... ;o) However, your views of the landscape are magical. I really like the thought of looking at things in an impressionistic way. I shall try that out as well! big hugs, Christa

    1. It's a gentler book than the Tim Wintons but has stayed with me in the same way his do.
Thanks for the compliments on the photos. I forgot my camera and took them with my Blackberry! Maybe I should do that more often.
