a quick question

I used to be a simple country girl, who read a lot. Now I have more email addresses than I can remember, two blogs, an instagram account, and I'm building a webpage. I upgraded something on my laptop and can't find my pictures, but they magically appear on my mobile device, which used to be a phone.

Is anyone else confused?

  1. Lovely photo. I try to stick to a blog, one email, and a Facebook account. I won't do Twitter and have no need for a website, though I had one a few years back. We're going to Ireland in September. Should be fun.

    1. Ireland! That will be wonderful. Can't wait to see and hear about it.

  2. I hear you. it's the new normal. as long as you control your social media presence and it's not the other way around, you're good though. what worries me more is the fact that sooner or later, all these sites and services will be linked and owned by one big corporation. the only good thing is that by then we will be too old to matter much :)))

    1. For social media I'm only on instagram, though I use twitter as a news feed and very occasionally post or retweet something, mostly so I can look back at it. I need to streamline the other stuff though. I hate the feeling of needing and being owned by those various companies, especially google.

  3. I think it's the fourth dimension.

  4. Oh yes, I am confused all the time! I am also wasting far too much time on social media. I have decided to cut back a bit and return to my favourite pastime of actually reading a book (made from paper no less!).

    1. I read for a few hours every night. It's a habit and I love it. I always read before bed, but now I start as early as I can.

  5. Understand... I seem to have my iPad permanently attached to my hand. This isn't a good thing. Same here with email addresses, Facebook, Instagram... And a seldom tended to blog. However, I am back to reading non-electronic books! Facebook is a great way to reconnect with far away family and longtime friends; however, there's no way to escape the political and controversial posts... So how do we get back to basics? But wait... This is just the basics... No tweeting or snap chatting here! Oh well, Jen, keep painting, reading, and sharing those adorable kitties! Happy Wednesday!

  6. Of course we are, and you want me to open an Instagram account? I use Google Chrome and have my blog on blogger, Google again; for the most part I've always used my phone as that, a phone even though my email (gmail) is installed and so is my work email. Then one day I uploaded Google Play onto my phone (why, I can't recall) and suddenly every single picture was in there even though I had taken them with my camera and then transferred them to my computer. It was Google, Picasa album, don't know how when or where but it's spooky. I'm with Susan on the facebook thing, ready to go on a rant about the political and religious stuff, and people need to stop taking pictures of themselves just to get you to say "beautiful" when you really don't mean it. If and when I ever get a Twitter account I'm heading straight to a psychiatrist. Thanks for listening!

    1. I used a blackberry until it broke and one reason that I didn't get an iPhone before that is because I thought I'd spend too much time on instagram. But instargram is really fast--both too post and to follow. It doesn't feel like a time such at all. And once you find your people it's a lot of fun. I never did Facebook, but my son who did likes instagram a lot more--he can keep up with his friends but it's not time-consuming. That's my sales pitch. Now I'll stop. :-)

    2. Backing you up on the IG thing. As strange as this may sound Amelia it feels very personal, and we can chat privately if the spirit moves us.

Think how much we would like to see you food as soon as you make it and Max at any moment of the day.

Lots of Gus and Lucy pic, just saying.

    3. Ugh, I must proofread my comments. Time suck, not such. And what Jane said. You could give it a try. Once you get a nightly picture of Gus and or Lucy you'll never go back.

  7. Do you ever want to just chuck it all? I sometimes do.

    1. Second Jen's "Absolutely!"
And with the increased privacy concerns, Double Absolutely! I am off
      Facebook, probably permanently.

  8. Hello Jen,
It can be all so time consuming and frustrating. You will get it sorted and I admire you for learning how to do all as it takes time and patience.

    Thanks for your visit

  9. I have an old Nokia phone without internet installed. I have my personal blog an another one for a garden project. Ah! and a Facebook account that I don´t use at all.
I like to visit my blog friends as you but I don´t understand people who is always looking at their modern phones. I will buy a new modern phone the day that the old one dies.
