Solo retreat in Provincetown--long walks, good art, crazy sunset, interesting conversations.
"Provincetown is, always has been, an eccentrics sanctuary."
-Michael Cunningham
Each little square is an exploration.
Also,
The Woman Who Lost Her Soul by Bob Shaccochis. Great book. Read it if the description makes it sound like your kind of thing.
New Directions is publishing reproductions of Emily Dickinson's writings on envelopes. The Gorgeous Nothings.
Jellyfish are taking over. And, Inside the mind of an Octopus.
great links. I've heard about the jellyfish invasion. the octopus article was a great read. thanks a lot xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it--me too. Wish I could have met Athena. Orion always has good stuff.
DeleteHi Jen, a little long time no see on the blog...! You seem to enjoy your life, travelling, reading and so forth. It is refreshingly sunny and cool day these days. I also was occupied by not just gorgeous things but daily matters and walking for my knee...I always enjoy your green stuff. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to your knee? Did I miss something? I'm glad you are having nice weather now!
DeleteHello Jen,
ReplyDeleteA lovely peaceful post.
What a genial idea to paint the green squares..love them.
We still have warm Autumn days here.
Your flowers look so lovely..

I hope you've gotten some rain for your pretty flowers.
DeleteOh, I love the green! And the envelopes are so intriguing to me. Such a nice post.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I can see how you'd like the envelopes. You have a bit of E.D. in you.
DeleteCan't wait to be there next month!
ReplyDeleteYou will love it.
DeleteThat cat! Straight out of a Japanese painting!
ReplyDeleteShe says thank you.
DeleteBrilliant photos Jen! We loved how relaxed and easy going it was in Provincetown. We didnt get a photo of the pictures on the side of that building at the harbour so its nice to see yours.
ReplyDeleteWe must have passed each other on the road.
DeleteHaving followed several of your book selection and loving every one of them, I'm sure I'll be reading this one too. You're breaking my bank!
ReplyDeleteBut you're enlarging my world, fair trade.

Library!
DeleteI so glad you "get" Provincetown. A lot of people go there but not a lot of people get it or take advantage of what's behind the curtain so to speak. Each visit will unveil more and more, you may even start to make friends there.
ReplyDeleteLove the Athena article and I'm intrigued by the Dickinson envelopes. To be able read her original handwriting would add another whole dimension to reading her work.
Love the color of the house in the first photo! and the book sounds fascinating.
ReplyDeleteAnd those hot pink hibiscus (?) climbing it add to the fun.
DeleteNice retreat. Provincetown is special. I love that photo on the wharf...not that the rest are shabby :)You're helping me pick my green, that's IF I go in that direction, the longer it takes the more colors that pop into my head.
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion. Take your time. I was going to paint my house creamy yellow, which I love. Then I went on a grey jag and now it's blue-gray. Perfectly nice, but every time I see a yellow house I'm sad.
DeleteLovely photos and I shall be checking out your literary recommendations!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful greens!
ReplyDeleteI like the atmosphere of your photos, they make me feel good :)
you have a beautiful blog! I'm happy you find my one!!
ReplyDelete:-) mano
Jen,
ReplyDeletethanks for the sweet comment! I hate dress shopping, much better at junk shopping! Provincetown looks like a special place, lovely pics, makes me want to go!
