say hello

Our new kitties--mama and baby. Mama and three were found under a porch when the kittens were about 10 days old. The local cat rescue took them in and fostered them. Two of the kittens were adopted together and we brought these two home today. Mama is only about a year old but she's very mellow, and the kitten is everything you would want in a kitten. I kept trying to take pictures of her awake, but they are all a blur.

Their foster home names were Miss Kitty and Matisse (the tip of the baby's tail is white, like it was dipped in paint) but we're going to rename them. Suggestions welcome.

  1. Very cute!

My first reaction the second I saw mama was "Sweetie" for some reason.

    1. Baby could be "Cookie" with tail dipped in milk.

    2. She is very sweet--I wanted a lap cat and that's exactly what she is. I love Cookie for the kitten, but my son Luke gets to choose her name. Cookie might be good for the mother though. It's on the list.

  2. Hello Jen, They are too cute for words, and that was a nice thing to take them in. Don't look to me for help with names, however--the only cat names I can think of are Kitten and Fluffy (with dogs I have a slightly larger repertoire: Spot, Rover, Tray, and Rex).

  3. ooohh how did you keep this a secret?

You are going to have so much fun.

I smile wholeheartedly whenever I think of ours.

    Hours of happiness.

    I find they name themselves;-)

  4. Even my husband Jay wanted to see your new cats. "Order your slipcovers now," he commented. Jen, you know you have to observe cats for awhile before choosing names. The mother looks like my erstwhile cat Emma, who was my muse years ago. Names from literature can be very appropriate. Keep us posted with photos. Cats are wonderful subjects, as you know. They will fill that little hole in your heart now.
    Hugs,

    Karen

  7. Two cats, wow! I've never have cats, but they are always so lovely to see and warm on your lap I think. White tail reminds me of a rabbit with name Cotton tail.:)

  8. Wow, how sweet of you to take in them! Mom and kitten are happy together. Mine is also an adopted one and it seems he didn't know his mom's love. He never does that familiar paws' action cats usually do when sucking the breast. I named him a simple word which has various meanings. besides I like its sound. I am interested what you name them. They will sure make your life merrier.

  10. Awesome...and congratulations!! Yes, we know from experience kitten photos tend to always be blurred! They're beauties, and you've done such a wonderful thing by adopting the mama too. Wishing you all a long & happy life together. I love our dogs, but cats make everything better!

  11. They are gorgeous! I would actually love to have a cat(s) again, but my birds say 'no.' I know you're going to all have a wonderful time together! Names? For some reason their colors make me think of food and booze... maybe Truffle and Scotch?

  12. Oooh they're soooo pretty, what beautiful markings. From what I can see baby looks just like mama. I like Honey because of that honey colored stripe in the middle of her very pretty face. Notice how we're all becoming pet bloggers.
