lilacs

Hello friends. My computer is in the shop and I am writing this on my new mobile device. (Bye nice Blackberry keyboard, hi Instagram.) I haven't figured out how to access my cw email or your blogs on this thing, or reply to comments, but I will catch up with you soon.

There are lilacs blooming and lilies of the valley and viburnum. Rabbits are frolicking and I am reading Wind in the Willows. I hope you have flowers and books nearby too. xo Jen

p.s. Sunday a.m., borrowing computer to reply here. Can't post from this one because my pictures are on my phone and computer. And I'm sure there's a way, but thinking about it make me tired...Can we go back to film and index cards and mail that requires a stamp? (just kidding. sort of.)

  1. I still can't believe you let the Blackberry go, but then I don't know Instagram from anything.

    1. Oh Rubye, I now feel like such a poser. (poseur?) but poor Blackberry had too much coffee and paint spilled on it went to Blackberry heaven. Though its body is still on my desk.

  2. Jen... Good luck with the new toy! For years my phone has been smarter than I am! I have, somewhat successfully, learned to use my iPad! I do enjoy Instagram and follow some of my Blogland friends there, too. Your flowers are so pretty and the stack of books, tempting! Enjoy! Susan

  4. Hello Jen,

Oh dear the trauma of learning how to us a new piece of technological equipment.....good luck!

However, we can identify so much more happily with the Lilac and the stack of books just waiting to be read. Bliss.

Hope you are having a relaxing and enjoyable weekend!

    1. There's no question that if I had to choose between books and mobile devices, books (in their corporeal form) would win.

  5. Someone gave me an IPad. i seem to be stuck on the Kindle app and just keep reading book after book. It's great for bedtime reading since the screen is illuminated.

Eventually I'll get around to all it's other capabilities for for now I'm just reading.

    Yay! you're on Instagram!

    1. My son reads his kindle books on his iphone while on the subway. My two reasons for iphone: Instagram (already addicted) and the flashlight app.

  6. Which W in the W are you reading? I'm in love with the new-ish version by Candlewick Press - it's big with yummy illustrations. I might just pull it down and look at the pictures this morning!!! Welcome to Instagram!!!

  7. Lilacs, Lilies-of -the-Valley, and The WInd in the WIllows! And the wonderful scent of Vibernum - perfect. I think my favorite chapter in Wind is the Piper at the Gates of Dawn, pure magic. My book is one of the old Thrushwood Books. Now I want to read it again.
This is what I love about blogs - sharing such good thoughts. Thanks!

    1. Now I want to go looking at all the editions. I just bought and early edition of All of Kind of a Family because the cover took me back to my childhood--it was a touchstone book for me.

  8. Hello Jen, With books in addition to flowers and other springtime attraction, I guess this is as good a time as any to relinquish your computer for a while.

Nevertheless, I hope you get it back soon.

  9. Hope your computer is fixed soon. Mine went berzerk this week too but my IT guy at work fixed it, I owe him lunch. No Instagram for me, it's enough that I text people. Enjoy the spring flowers!

  11. I adore lilacs and the scent is so beautiful. We went to visit Hidcote manor garden in the week and there were lilac trees there, the air was heavy with the beautiful fragrance.
