The Barrio Viejo (old neighborhood) in Tucson is filled with charming adobe houses painted the colors of Easter eggs and Jordan almonds. Tucson is only an hour's drive from Mexico, and that influence is everywhere--food, architecture, music, art, clothes... I was in heaven with a taqueria on every corner. People were very friendly too. I took a lot more pictures of the houses, and will post them another time.
I can't decide if I want a lime green house with pink trim, or a pink house with lime green trim. And a yellow door. (And if the house is pink, what shade?)
See a great slideshow of colorful towns here.

Happy windows! They make a great post! Christa
ReplyDeleteNo words needed on this one!
DeleteI like windows. I sometimes compose some tanka poems looking through the windows, from a room, from the train and in a tearoom and so on...

DeleteI love that imagery, and what a wonderful idea--framing your poems, in a way.
Great Bairro windows. I love to see them. love the colour of the homes.
ReplyDeletelots of fun and laughter in their homes.
Thanks Jen. really nice.

Happy houses!
DeleteHi Jen, The sun-drenched quality of those windows and colors is very appealing. Maybe later you could do an equivalent series of New England windows for contrast--the North has its charms also.
ReplyDelete--Jim
That's a great idea!
DeleteVery cool. I love the lime green house with the teal windows but I think the light green plantings add to the scheme.
ReplyDeleteIt's been years since I've been in Tucson. It had a really positive energy. I know that sounds a little cuckoo but I think you know what I mean.
Tucson is filled with people who come from different places and love it--which I think contributes to that energy. Also having the university right in town.
DeleteI think a pink house would be a happy house...you could probably just feel it smiling! My neighbors have a pink door and I love it! All you see here is browns and gray...influenced by the farm dirt, I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteI desperately wanted to paint my door pink--instead went with safe deep red. :(
DeleteReally charming,I'm keen on colors, they make me happy!
ReplyDeleteMe too.
Deleteoh, definitely a yellow door. and I think a dark pink. I like full colours. pastels are strange when-I-grow-up-I-become-a-colour things...
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI love these colors, that lime green is gorgeous. These colors though only work on adobes and the southwest. Imagine these in the Northeast, it would look plain old crazy.
ReplyDeleteIt sure would!
DeleteSo pretty! The colors are wonderful! I admire the free spirits who go with their bliss regardless of location and paint to suite their taste. We have an up the street neighbor whose house is very traditional, but painted coral! One of my favorite older stucco homes in town is pretty in pink. Love the lime and teal! More, please... Susan
ReplyDeleteI do have more I'll share soon. I agree about those free spirits!
DeleteBut the important question is - who's cat sitting?
ReplyDeleteYou have your priorities right! My son Luke took care of the cats. (He loves them at least as much as I do.)
DeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I would love to live in a neighborhood like that. We have a little cottage by the water in Maryland. I once painted our cottage light turquoise with coral windows. But the poor cottage is in the wrong neighborhood for those colors!!!
Christa
Turrquoise and coral is a beautiful combo (I have such bracelets on my wrist.) I think of a Maryland cottage as oyster and driftwood. Live in Annapolis as a kid (in a red ranch house).
DeleteBeautiful colors and beautiful windows. I can't wait to see the houses!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I should keep them for a grey day. But it's always grey somewhere...
DeleteThese are beautiful colours and windows, and I am full of envy as I reach for my paint catalogue and brushes. Old-school cheerfulness is what I call that look.
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall that you have a colorful door and window frames on your charming Irish cottage.
DeleteHi Jen....
ReplyDeleteI arrived here from Sarah's lovely blog...
Your Photography is beautiful...
Love the blue shutters...reminds me of my cottage at the Lake...
Wonderful blog..♥
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Such lovely images, and colours! Much inspiration here. Thank you for sharing! x
ReplyDeleteAren't those windows and walls just wonderful? Sadly, not colours suited to our cool Northern skies, but what a tonic on a dull day!
