all the greens

I've been painting here and there for a few months now. Flowers, seascapes, a few are okay, nothing I love. Then I decided to paint green (you know how much I love that color) and finally, a painting that feels right. Though I don't think I'll ever capture all the greens.

  1. I love this grid of little paintings you've done. The little abstracts ordered by the grid, is wonderful. There are few in the middle that are especially wonderful.

Do you use any out-of-the tube greens at all or do you mix everything from the various yellows and blues?

    1. Thanks, I really enjoyed painting it, and it's the start of a series I am looking forward to working on.

I used 2 yellows 4 blues, and 4 greens, and a small amount of white, but the greens were all mixed with other colors before they went on the canvas, except for small bits here and there. So much fun to see how many greens I could come up with.

  2. I love it. looks fantastic. green is my favourite colour, too, despite a current obsession with yellow. I guess they would look good together :)

  4. Lovely, refreshing greens.. What a wonderful idea to do the grid. All working together to celebrate color. The blue is the perfect accent! Your photo inspirations are lovely. Keep telling your story.. Thanks for sharing with us.

  5. It has an unfinished look to it - like nature itself, I suppose. I wondered if your were still working on your art and I see that you are.

    1. Your first sentence--very philosophical, very zen. I will probably steal it.

  6. It's restful and intricate, and would stand a lot of mellow pondering, just like nature.

    1. Restful and intricate--lovely description, and that's what I was going for when I painted it, though I didn't articulate it so well.

  7. The variety of green makes me feel wonderful.
Every green becomes well with red and wooden brown, I think.

    1. You got me thinking about if there's any color green doesn't go well with. It's a matter of proportion I guess. Purple came to mind, but then I thought of iris's.

  8. Green is my favorite color and oh, how I love your painting! I believe green goes with everything because of the flowers.

    1. It's cool and calm, but also warm because of the yellow, which makes it perfect.

  9. What a wonderful collage of colour. You can see so much in it. I think there is more variety of colour in green than any other shade.

    1. And look at the blue sky...
After a few more greens I'm going to move on to blue.
