blues






cobalt cerulean turquoise 
aqua 
azure 
cornflower sapphire navy 
indigo periwinkle teal


I've gotten used to the gray greens of the New England Atlantic. The oceans of my life have always been toned down---the gray blues of the Pacific near San Francisco, the mid-blues of the Jersey shore and Fire Island. It was a shock to see the colors of the same ocean a thousand miles south, in Florida. It made me want to get out my paints and a giant canvas and explore every shade of blue for the rest of my life. It made me wish that I could paint like this artist:

    Lord. Paint it? How about jump into it!!!
    La Jolla water is a lovely green, Jamaica water is pool blue. Your ocean is truly aqua. mmmmm.

      Interesting--I would have thought La Jolla bright blue. Pool blue--I like that.

    I'm really into this video! I could have a glimpse of what artists or art works are! I'm also amazed at the shades of blue and so many words for them.

      The piece she did on the beach knocks me out (in a good way). Now you've got me thinking about the color of the sea near Japan...(and the rest of the world).

    It's true about the ocean colors, amazing how they differ depending where you are. I always think of Aruba where one side is Caribbean docile green and the other is angry navy blue Atlantic constantly crashing into the shores. Fun video.

    Beautiful...alluring ...mesmerizing ...calming ...energizing ...rejuvenating ...transforming ...so many, many words to describe the blues of the Gulf. Your pictures are worth a 1000 words! I am counting the weeks until I can feel my toes in the sand! Thanks for sharing!
