merry and bright

I love Christmas lights. Every night I stay up late,
reading, in sight of the tree.
(Do you spy two cats?)

My mantle is covered with a rainbow coalition of deer.

I made friends at the local pet store/cat shelter.
I wish I could bring one home, but two cats is my limit these days.

My son Luke, adopted this sweet cat in Brooklyn.
I can't wait to meet her.
(Am I grandmother to a cat?)  I'll bring toys.

The days are short and cold on this side of the planet.
I hope that you are filled with light and warmth.

  1. I love the little bronzy cat mixed in with the reindeer. :) I'm a grandmother to three big beastly dogs that I wish were one sweet little kitten.

Hope your days get warmer and brighter. xo

    1. Oh dear. Are the dogs visiting you for the holidays?

    2. NO. I absolutely forbid it. Several years ago while we were at church on Christmas eve, one or all of them tore apart every one of my Christmas decorations, including things that my children had made when they were younger.

I now send doggie bags and treats home with the boys.

    3. Phew. Your new house is safe. That reminds me of the time a friend had a surprise party at my house for her husband, and my dog ate the entire cake, including the foil covering it.

    1. Hmmm…something to do with les enfants? Look for homeless cats? A project, a photo essay, a book!

  3. Absolutely! Next thing you know you'll have a bumper sticker with "Ask me about my grandcat!" on your vehicle :-)

  4. Homeless cats make me sad. Years ago my uncle's family had a birthday cake on the kitchen table and their Weimaraner ate the entire thing - then lost it all over the house. Give me a cat any day - even though they vomit all over the house, too. Nice decor, Jen.

  5. Took me a while to find the second cat behind the tree, thanks for the hint. Your new grandkitty is adorable, what pretty markings she has! Your house looks warm and cozy, and festive.

  6. A very endearing little tree ... and cat photos, too. I have decorated a small, bare linden tree in my tiny front yard with cuttings from nearby blue spruce trees snd juniper shrubs and some hardy old ornaments. Fun! Wonder if Jane would consider doing a Christmas Trees in the House segment? Have a happy and blessed holiday season, dear Jen.

  7. Whoops, make that "and." Hope the

  8. I am so happy for the cat your kind son adopted! It reminds me of my late cat that passed away several years ago. He lived as long as 20 years.
It looks Christmassy. Wishing you happy holidays, Jen.
